Our menus: Dinner begins with an “antipasto” buffet, featuring a rich and varied selection of Tuscan specialties, such as various cured meats and cheese, caprese (a salad made with sliced fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and sweet basil), fried zucchini flowers, green and black olives, fried dough, bruschetta…
Guests can then choose between a soup or pasta dish, followed by a main course, which always includes a vegetarian option. Tuscan food is “simple and flavourful”, typically featuring olive oil (and in Villa le Barone we use the biological extra virgin olive oil that we produce in Villa le Barone and on our farm “Vecchienna” in Alta Maremma), as well as herbs such as rosemary and sage, that come from our garden. We grow our own tomatoes (which taste wonderful!) and use locally sourced ingredients.
Meat dishes are also popular, including bistecca alla fiorentina (grilled T-bone steak), tagliata, (a boneless piece of grilled beef, served in slices), arista (roast pork), and cinghiale (wild boar).
And of course, there are plenty of different types of pasta: spaghetti, penne, tagliatelle, tortellinis, pici ravioli… “Other local specialties include ribollita (a hearty vegetable soup), pici (a type of thick spaghetti),
A cheese buffet and desserts round off the meal in style.
For dessert, ice creams, sherbets, but also cantucci (almond biscotti) with Vin Santo, are on the menu.
